What you’ll learn & achieve::
You will serve as Sales Director leading a Customer Operating Unit - CMIT (Consumer, Medical, and Information Technologies) - overseeing activities of both international field and inside sales/support. You bring a track record in leading such teams to achieve better performance and growth across both new and existing customers. You will set the strategy and monitor the execution and performance of a highly technical service-based portfolio. International experience is considered advantageous. Responsibilites include:
  • Leading, developing and implementing strategic/tactical plans through Sales Managers and sales staff to achieve assigned sales orders, revenue, and market development objectives.
  • Developing, leading and expanding a professional sales force organization and capabilities to support UL’s vision and business objectives. Works closely with local management and others to understand forecasted capacity availability to staff sales resource appropriately.
  • Building, gaining buy-in and implementing key marketing strategies and planning necessary to focus on sales priorities which generate short- and long-term revenue growth.
  • Nurturing sales capabilities within the organization including recruiting, training and coaching as well as formalized sales processes and tools required to support the activities.
  • Managing sales incentives programs to ensure achievement of business objectives and to promote behaviors consistent with UL’s business philosophy.
  • Implementing industry strategies typically on a regional basis, providing input to industry teams with marketplace and account feedback.
  • Managing the performance of direct reports by developing accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing career counseling, feedback and guidance and ensuring that all policies are understood and adhered to.
What makes you a great fit::
You must be an assertive and dynamic sales leader with strong customer relationship management and leadership skills. You bring strong technical and business/economic foundation (prior work in a tech industry is a plus), including formal account planning, sales strategy development, sales tracking, and measurement.
  • Strategic - high-level business orientation and the knowledge to translate business solutions and opportunities into business strategies and actions.
  • Leading, developing and implementing strategic/tactical plans through Sales Managers and other sales staff to achieve assigned sales orders, revenue, and market development objectives.
  • Developing, leading and expanding a professional sales force organization and capabilities to support UL’s vision and business objectives.
  • Thorough experience in leading a sales organization at different locations, ideally in various countries.
  • Experience overseeing multiple, diverse technical service offerings is a plus.
  • Must possess the ability to quickly grasp multiple industries and services for which the business is dependent upon for growth.
  • Broad knowledge of a core CMIT (Consumer, Medical, and Information Technologies) industry, i.e. market, trends, challenges, and key players is advantageous.
  • Requirement of building a sales culture of accountability
  • Experience facilitating a collaborative, productive environment within a matrix organization, especially with an operations team
  • Proven track record in achieving growth in a similar position.
  • Successful engagement with customers, specifically key stakeholders both internal and external to the organization.
  • Strong experience overseeing entire customer journey – quote, sales, service, and delivery.
  • Pragmatic - balanced approach to management combining strategic planning, operational excellence, and flawless execution.
  • Results-driven - confident, thrives on hard work and consistent challenges, is quick on his/her feet. Monitors quantitative progress and acts quickly to correct deviations.
  • Successful application of sales methodologies, including sales strategy, segmentation, account reviews, pipeline and forecasting, etc. Must have experiencing driving both revenue and margin goals and understanding of overall P&L.
  • International experience and cultural awareness and respect. Ideally extensive hands-on management experience in a multi-national environment.
  • Consensus-building - strong interpersonal verbal presentation and writing skills to successfully interact with subordinates, colleagues, and executive management.
  • Strong track record of presenting to relevant stakeholder groups at customer meetings or at conferences, not only as a speaker but also as main facilitator.
  • Overcoming barriers - track record as a leader with business impact, negotiation and diplomatic skills
